Scenes (DRAFT)

Imagine

What is broadband

Close

Sample attempt

Illustrate what is possible at points

on the string.

Examples from previous attempts.

Perhaps shoot the scene on a football field or basketball court.

Interview someone from UTRGV.

What covid highlighted —

poor bandwidth and weak connection.

What it means for schools to be connected at top speed.

Infrastructure and resources

Examples from previous attempts.

Marea is a partnership between Microsoft and Facebook for a fiber optic cable across the Atlantic with bandwidth capacity of 160 tera bits/sec. Point A to B is about 1,600 miles. This distance represents 160 tera/bs of bandwidth.

A typical high school in South Texas bandwidth is 40mbs or more. In comparison a school’s bandwidth is couple of streets long.

Fiber optics are strands of fiber glass or polymer, each strand is the thinness of a human hair. One single strand can transmit 4,500 two-hour long movies in the blink of an eye.

The SpaceX launch site is located nearby that we can watch a launch.  Yet we remain far away from the communications infrastructure we need to be true 21st century learners.

Closing remarks.

iSol video group in one setting.

Example/Sample:

• Not a question of technology.

• Imagine a class room connected with class rooms from other schools.

Might be good idea to have a clip researcher to locate clips from iCharla Podcast, iSol page, and other sources to support the video.
